The “Frecce Tricolori” will fly over the Kandahar

On Saturday 22nd February, the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian National Aerobatic Team, will fly over Sestriere on the occasion of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup scheduled for the weekend on the Giovanni Alberto Agnelli Kandahar slope in Sestriere.

It will be the first time that the MB339PAN aircraft of the 313th Aerobatic Training Group ‘Frecce Tricolori’ of the Italian Air Force fly over the Olympic mountains of the Vialattea. It will be a real surprise for the public present at Sestriere who, in addition to enjoying the athletes competing in the Giant Slalom valid for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, will be with their noses in the air for the overflight of the Italian National Aerobatic Team. The overflight is scheduled for Saturday 22 February at 10.30 a.m., before the start of the GS.

‘This is wonderful news,’ explains Gualtiero Brasso, President of the Organising Committee, ’we are really happy about the passage of the Frecce Tricolori on the occasion of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup. A show that will certainly be highly appreciated by the public present on Saturday in Sestriere, who will return back home with a beautiful memory of a very special day’.

‘As the Municipality of Sestriere,’ said Mayor Gianni Poncet, ‘we managed, thanks to the cooperation and willingness of civil and military institutions, to bring the Frecce Tricolori to Sestriere both for the Women’s Ski World Cup and for the 90th anniversary of the birth of the Municipality of Sestriere. I would like to thank everyone, especially the Italian Air Force for agreeing to our invitation’.

‘We are particularly happy to be able to spread our tricolour for the first time over Sestriere on the occasion of this prestigious sporting competition,’ said Lt. Col. Franco Paolo Marocco, commander of the Frecce Tricolori. ‘The year 2025 will be a special year for us, we will celebrate our 65th aerobatic season and starting it this way makes us absolutely proud.’

Three days of emotions with the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Sestriere with two Giant races on 21st and 22nd February and the Slalom scheduled for Sunday 23rd.
