Sestriere is ready to offer the show of the World Cup

The winter season opens with the great return of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup and Sestriere is ready to welcome and celebrating it at three hundred and sixty degrees. The rich programme of side events has something for every taste, spanning the two days of competition. On Saturday the giant slalom will be staged and the special slalom on Sunday. Two sporting events that see the Kandahar G.A. Agnelli slope, race venue, prepared to the best of their ability.

As Peter Gerdol, FIS Chief Race Director World Cup Women, explains: “The course is ready and prepared and has an optimal condition: snow is very good, hard but elastic, so it is ideal for the scheduled races.” A snowfall is expected overnight, one of the few unmanageable variables when it comes to outdoor events. “The snowfall should clear by tomorrow morning, Friday 9 December, so we have plenty of time to prepare the track adequately for the weekend’s races.”

The organising committee is ready for this eventuality, so much so that they have already prepared all the plans in synergy with the International Federation, both with machinery and manpower, and is therefore operational to ensure that the races take place under the best possible conditions.

“We are ready! The track has already been finished from a couple of days and is reacting very well. We will face the snowfall in the right spirit, according to a plan that has already been studied in detail. We expect to welcome 10,000 people per day over the weekend to watch the races and experience an intense weekend of sport and fun, with a very rich side programme,” comments Gualtiero Brasso, President of the Sestriere Organising Committee.

The appointment is scheduled for Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December, at the foot of the Kandahar G.A. Agnelli track.
